A B O U T J O L I J N
The first time I found myself on a yoga mat was when I was 15 years old - 17 years ago. By the time I was dancing and yoga was part of our curriculum. Focussing on the breath and doing sequences without an end goal? I couldn't understand or enjoying it. Till years later.
In a moment when I lost the connection with myself a bit, I came to Ashtanga yoga and there it really started. I felt a deep longing in me that wanted to be in India. Close to the source, to learn more about Yoga. 6 months later, after I graduated my second studies in concept development & trend watching, I went to India.
During the first week of my Yoga Teacher Training, I entered a little book shop. He gifted me a book about Ayurveda. He said it will change my life.
And yesss it did. The ancient wisdom of Ayurveda brought me close to my authentic self.
It felt as yoga: come home. Truly healing.
My dream ever since was to explore, experience, re-member this ancient old wisdom of Yoga and Ayurveda and one day to share it with others.
During the last 6,5 years I did several yoga trainings all over the world in Vinyasa, Hatha, Yin, Yin/Yang, Yoga Nidra & Pranayama. In these years I studies Ayurveda as well: first some years with Chanderdath Makhan (to study Ayurvedic massage therapy & Ayurveda practitioner), later with Katie Silcox, Indu Arora, Mary Thompson & some other most wonderful teachers who shared their love and wisdom around Ayurveda and Yoga.
I bow deeply to them <3
I created my own yoga teaching style: juicy, playful and spicy.
How to experience a calm mind and freedom in the body in a playful way.
I share this in my yoga classes I teach at Yoga Circle & De Nieuwe Yogaschool in Amsterdam since 2015 & at my Yoga & Ayurveda retreats I give since 2019.
Since 2 years I am giving Ayurvedic consultations (online & offline) and massages.
Let's get in contact if you would like to work together!
With lots of love,
